'Doraemon, Nobita' Arrested in Delhi: Police Stop Bike to Check Documents, Catch Two Criminals With Aliases From Japanese Manga Series
Dharmendra and Mohit who went by the names Doraemon and Nobita were wanted in several cases of snatching, robbery and theft. The duo was arrested during a routine check near Subhash Place.
Delhi, October 18: Two thieves with "Doraemon and Nobita" pseudonyms from the Japanese Manga series, who had escaped the law for months, got caught at a random picket check point near Subhash Place in Delhi on Friday, October 18. Police found Dharmendra (25) Aka Doraemon and his ally Mohit (20) Aka Nobita's fingerprints in several thefts after arresting them. Every morning, the pair would set out on a stolen bike, targeting people on the streets of Delhi throughout the day. In a way, it was the stolen bike that led them into a predicament.
Cops while conducting their patrol duties, noticed two youths on a bike. During their routine check to inspect documents, the police pulled over Dharmendra and Mohit who were riding bike without helmets . The duo made a U-turn and tried to flee the spot. The police officers gave them a chase and eventually apprehended them. DCP (North west) Jitendra Kr Meena, told Times of India that they found two stolen mobiles and a knife after they were frisked. "Even the motorbike they were riding was stolen from a neighbourhood in Subhash Place," Meena added. Police have registered case against Dharmendra and Mohit under several sections of Indian Penal Code and Arms Act. According to police Dharmendra who is wanted in seven cases of robbery and theft wore ordinary clothes and looks like a common man. The duo reportedly worked in crowded areas and blended in with their inconspicuous look. Dharmendra and Mohit are school dropouts and are involved in drugs and theft. Both went to the same school and hails from Shalimar Bagh in Delhi. Dharmendra earned the nickname Doraemon from the famous animated Japanese series because of his short and stout body, along with his remarkable skill to steal any item from almost any pocket under any situation. Mohit goes with the name Nobita, a lazy boy in the animated series who needs Doraemon's help to pull him out of trouble.
