Dantewada, October 30: A Doordarshan cameraman has been killed in an attack by Naxals in Dantewada district of Chattisgarh on Tuesday. The crew were attacked in Aranpur village on Monday, reported news agency ANI. The Naxals attacked the crew of state-run TV network. While saving them, two security personnel lost their lives in the attack and two more were injured. The injured are been admitted to the hospital. The media person who lost his life was identified as Achyuta Nanda Sahu.

According to the reports, a team of Doordarshan went to Dantewada area for filming a documentary video, ahead of Chhattisgarh Assembly Elections 2018, when Maoists attacked them. Deputy inspector general of police, P Sundarraj while speaking on the attack said, "Today our patrolling party was ambushed by Naxals in Aranpur. Two of our personnel were martyred, and a DD cameraman was also injured and later succumbed. Two more personnel injured." Chhattisgarh: 4 CRPF Jawans Martyred, 2 Injured in Naxal Attack in Bijapur.

BJP leader Rajyavardhan Rathore while expressing his condolence said, "Stand in solidarity with the family of the cameraman, we will take care of his family. We salute all those media persons who go for coverage in such dangerous situations, remember their bravery."

Earlier last week, four CRPF jawans were killed and two were injured after Maoists used a powerful IED to target a bulletproof mobile bunker vehicle in Bijapur district. This attack comes just days ahead of Chhattisgarh assembly elections which will go into phrases on November 12 and November 20.
