In Houston, PM Modi has two engagements — addressing the NRI community at a stadium and a roundtable meeting with CEOs and top executives of US energy companies. "Howdy, Modi!", the Indian-American community summit, will be hosted by the Texas India Forum, a Houston-based non-profit, on September 22. Nearly 50,000 people are expected to gather to listen to PM Modi who is likely to leave for the US on September 21. Donald Trump Meets PM Modi at G7 Summit, Backs Off From 'Kashmir Mediation' Offer, Says All India-Pakistan Issues 'Bilateral'.

New Delhi and Washington are also discussing the possibility of Trump attending the energy CEOs roundtable with PM Modi, The Indian Express reported. The other possibility is that the two leaders will meet at the White House. This meeting may take place either on September 25 or 26. The Prime Minister will then head to New York where he will address the annual UNGA session on September 27.

Trump’s presence at PM Modi’s diaspora event could be read as an endorsement of Trump in the run-up to the US elections next year. During PM Modi's this visit to the US, India and the US are also expected to announce a trade agreement that should resolve some outstanding issues that have cast a shadow on the bilateral relationship.
