The Dominican Republic has released a postal stamp to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The birth anniversary of India's Father of The Nation is on October 2. The Embassy of the Dominican Republic in India said that it is proud to announce the release of the stamp to mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

"Gandhiji emphasized not only on the spirit of service, but also on the inner happiness it led to. Gandhiji shared an unbreakable bond with truth; he shared a similar unique bond with the spirit of service", the PM said.

Minister of State for External Affairs V. Muraleedharan's Tweet

He also said that he is happy that he had a chance to visit a number of places associated with Mahatma Gandhi. He also asked every citizen of the country to visit such historic place, at least once in their lifetime.

V. Muraleedharan, Minister of State for External Affairs tweeted thanking the Dominican Republic Foreign Minister. "Thank Miguel Vargas M for this tremendous gesture honouring the father of the Nation of India. Thanks to the efforts of his close friend Mr CF Andrews, Mahatma Gandhi and his concept of non-violence were equally influential in Caribbean as elsewhere!" V. Muraleedharan said in his tweet.
