Hyderabad, February 24: Panic gripped Yacharam in Telangana's Rangareddy where a stray dog, who was on a biting spree, attacked 9 people who were walking in groups on the Nagarjunasagar road on Thursday. The stray canine was killed by locals. The injured were taken to the Yacharam Government Hospital for treatment, while four were eventually shifted to the Government Fever Hospital in Nallakunta

According to a report published by the Times of India, the stray dog created terror early in the morning when it first attacked a 72-year-old woman who was sitting near the temple. On seeing this, a few locals rushed for her help and chased the dog away. As per the reports, a few of the injured people were administered doses of rabies vaccine. “Six of the 9 injured were given anti-rabies vaccine and sent home, four are undergoing treatment at the Fever Hospital. All nine are out of danger," Yacharam tahsildar K. Sucharitha said. Meanwhile, angry locals caught the stray dog responsible for the attack and killed it in a self-defence. Reportedly, this was the fourth such incident in the last five days across the state. Last week, a four-year-old boy, Pradeep, was mauled to death by a pack of stray dogs at Amberpet. In similar incident, four-year-old Rishi was bitten by a pack of stray dogs in Chaitanyapuri's Maruthinagar colony on Tuesday night.
