This incident comes in the wake of a ban imposed by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) in March 2024 on the import, breeding, and sale of 24 dog breeds, including pit bulls, rottweilers, terriers, Moscow guard dogs, and bandogs. The CBIC cited the ferocious nature of these breeds as hazardous to human life, leading to their prohibition for domestic and other purposes.
