Chennai, May 16: A shocking stray dog attack has come to light in Tamil Nadu's Chennai. Two people were bitten by stray dogs in two separate incidents. A 13-year-old boy was bitten by a stray dog at Tondiarpet, whereas a 42-year-old man was attacked at Maduravoyal. Both stray dog bite incidents occurred on Tuesday, May 14.
The child and the man suffered injuries in the stray dog attack in Chennai. According to a report in the Times of India, Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) officials captured the stray dogs on Wednesday morning, May 15, a day after stray dog bites were reported. Speaking about the incident, J Kamal Hussain, veterinary officer of GCC, said that both the stray dogs have been captured. He also said that the stay dog caught in Tondiarpet is suspected of having rabies and is kept under observation. The victim in Tondiarpet has been identified as S Sanjeevan (13).
According to the report, the minor boy was allegedly attacked by a stray dog while retrieving a ball. When Sanjevan was trying to retrieve the ball, the stray dog grabbed his forearm and didn't let him go. Recalling the incident, the minor boy said people threw stones to chase the canine away. Later, he was rushed to Tondiarpet government hospital, where he was administered an anti-rabies injection. Local residents said that the stray dog had shown rabies symptoms. They also alleged no action was taken despite filing several complaints with the GCC. It is reported that the GCC acted after locals involved a local councillor.
