Kolkata, June 14: West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee's nephew Abesh Banerjee, a student at KPC Medical College Hospital in Kolkata, joined the doctors protest on Friday as the demonstrations entered the fourth day and turned into a nationwide stir with various doctors and medical bodies extending their support. In a major embarrassment for Mamata Banerjee, Abesh was seen leading the protest at KPC hospital today morning. Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim's daughter Shabba, who is a doctor herself, in a Facebook post demanded safety for doctors and said she is deeply ashamed as TMC workers. Mamata Banerjee's Nephew Joins Doctors' strike:

Doctors at the Nil Ratan Sircar Medical College and Hospital started a strike on Thursday after an intern was allegedly assaulted by a mob following a patient's death on Monday night due to alleged negligence. All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi was along with medical institutions who joined the protest against Banerjee's inaction in protecting the doctors. Meanwhile, West Bengal CM has accused opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Communist Party of India (Marxist) of hatching a conspiracy against the TMC government. On Thursday, Banerjee reached SSKM Medical College and Hospital and threatened doctors with strict action if they do not end the protest. However, her words failed and turned the protest into a nationwide stir.
