New Delhi, December 15: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation on Sunday closed the entry and exit gates of Sukhdev Vihar, Jamia Millia Islamia, Okhla Vihar, Jasola Vihar and Shaheen Bagh Metro Stations, amid Citizenship Amendment Act protests in the national capital. The decision was taken by the DMRC administration after a section among the demonstrators set three buses on fire, along with a few two-wheelers. DMRC claims that they have been advised by the Delhi Police and are just following the orders.

Informing about the latest development, the DMRC circulated the message through thier Twiiter handle and wrote, "As advised by Delhi Police, entry and exit gates of Sukhdev Vihar and gate no. 3 of Ashram have been closed. Trains will not be halting at Sukhdev Vihar." Adding more, it wrote, "Entry & exit gates of Sukhdev Vihar, Jamia Millia Islamia, Okhla Vihar and Jasola Vihar Shaheen Bagh are closed. Earlier on Sunday, Delhi Police claimed that CAA protesters in New Delhi allegedly vandalised public property, set a couple of buses on fire and damaged over a dozen of public and private buses. Also, students of Jamia Millia Islamia was blamed for the violence, as the agitation call was issued by the varsity students. But the Jamia Vice Chancellor Najma Akhtar told reporters the students were not involved in the arson.

Meanwhile, reports are coming that the violent protest took place after AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan was seen in the area in Delhi where violent protests took place. Police said they are investigating elements that caused violence. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal took to Twitter and wrote, "No one shud indulge in violence. Any kind of violence is unacceptable. Protests shud remain peaceful."
