Solapur, November 12: A man has allegedly killed his wife on Diwali as he suspected her of infidelity. The incident took place in Solapur's Shreepur Mahalung area on November 7. A case has been registered against the suspected murderer at the Akluj Police Station. The victim was identified as 26-year-old Sushma Ganesh Tingre. According to the prosecution, Shaukat Maula Mawani said to the police that Ganesh Kantilal Tingre, the accused, was always harassing her wife and was suspicious of her actions, reported Lokmat.

Ganesh always doubted the character of Sushma, if she stood alone at the doors of their residence, he felt that she was waiting for someone with whom she had affair with. Sushma became a  frequent victim of domestic violence. Mumbai Man Kills Wife With Sickle on Suspicion of Extra-Marital Affair.

During Diwali celebrations, a fight broke out between the couple and Tingre accused his wife of being characterless. When she responded to him for throwing such baseless allegations, he got infuriated. Tingre then strangulated her and finally broke her neck. A case of murder has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and police are investigating the matter.

Earlier in a similar incident from Mumbai, a man in his sixties allegedly killed his wife after a quarrel with her at their Virar residence. The accused was identified as Bhaguram Mate, and the victim was identified as 53-year-old Bharti. According to the police report, the couple used to have frequent tiffs as the accused suspected that Bharti was having an extra-marital affair. The man was arrested an booked under the relevant sections of IPC.
