New Delhi, Sep 5: Bronze medalist Wrestler, Divya Kakran on Wednesday took a jibe at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal while reflecting on the struggles she had to face to win a medal for the country at the 2018 Asian Games. While speaking at a function that was organised in her honour, Kakran said if Kejriwal and his government had supported her, India would have got home a gold in wrestling instead of a bronze in the recently concluded Asian Games. Kakran complained about how no help was provided to her when she wanted support from the government.

Kakran lashed out at Kejriwal and his government and said he had promised her of help but all her phone calls remained unanswered. She said there were times she didn't even have enough glucose after practice and so drank water as she had the determination to do something big.

Kakran said, "While she was preparing for the Asian Games, we had approached Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for help, I told him about my torrid financial condition they even assured me of help but to no avail. Till date, I haven't received any support from the Delhi government".

"I had won a medal at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia, earlier this year and the Chief Minister had promised me that I will receive more from the government. But not even my phone calls were answered," Kakran told Kejriwal in front of other medal winners and government officials.

The bronze medalist further told Kejriwal to pay heed to poor kids who are building dreams and aspiring to become athletes in the future. "You've gathered us today to congratulate us but there's no support provided when we need it most. If we're given that support at the right time then we can even win gold," she added.
