Hyderabad, December 27: Andhra Pradesh government is planning to introduce a mobile app- Disha App for the safety of the women in the state. Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy on Thursday directed the officials to launch the app as soon as possible, according to a Times of India report.

The CM further asked to increase the strength of forensic lab four-fold. Earlier this month, The state Assembly passed Andhra Pradesh Disha Bill 2019 (Andhra Pradesh Criminal Law (Amendment) Act 2019). The Bill provides for awarding death sentence for offences of rape and gang rape and expediting verdict in trials of such cases within 21 days. The development is on the back of the 26-year-old veterinary who was gang-raped, murdered and set ablaze. The victim's charred body was found near Shadnagar town. The incident had shocked the entire nation and people wanted justice. Within a few days, all four allegedly accused in the crime were killed in an encounter by the Telangana Police. They were gunned down in the same place, where the alleged accused had dumped the victim's body
