Dipak Misra at HT Leadership Summit: Former CJI Says No Indian Should Feel Constitution Is Alien to Them

While speaking at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit 2018 on Friday, Misra said no one in the country should feel that they are not a part of the constitution.

New Delhi, October 5: Dipak Misra, in his first public address after retiring as the Chief Justice of India (CJI), said being a citizen of India,  no Indian should feel that the Constitution is alien to him. While speaking at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit 2018 on Friday, Misra said no one in the country should feel that they are not a part of the constitution, and added saying  the constitutional behaviour should be observed by every wing of the state, be it the legislative, executive and judiciary. CJI Dipak Misra Demits Office: List of Historic Judgements Delivered by Him Amid Criticism From Colleagues.

Talking about the Indian judiciary, Misra said India has a robust independent judiciary which is governed by rule of law. Throwing some light on the recent landmark Sabarimala verdict, the former CJI said women have to be equal partners in life and no one can keep the women of a particular religion out of a temple. While speaking at the HT Leadership Summit, Misra gave an example of Chanakya and said through history depicts him as a cruel man,  he believed that Chanakya was a prominent advisor to Chandragupta Maurya. "I don’t think that way. I always think that he was a prominent advisor to the then emperor Chandragupta Maurya", Misra said.

Earlier in the day, Congress President Rahul Gandhi took a jibe at the Modi government and accused them of spreading hatred among various other issuesTo this, Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal responded saying the BJP has inherited an economy in shambles and have strengthened it. Goyal further said the Prime Minister and  Finance Minister have successfully steered the economy to strengthen.
