Differently-Abled Andhra Man Commits Suicide at the Venue of Chandrababu Naidu’s Hunger Strike, Leaves 2-Page Suicide Note
According to reports, the man, identified as Davala Arjun Rao was a resident of Kinthali village in Srikakulam district. The man, who was facing a financial crisis, had come to the national capital to participate in the day-long hunger strike by Naidu.
New Delhi, February 11: In a tragic incident, a differently-abled man from Andhra Pradesh allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison in Delhi on Monday. The man, a supporter of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, ended his life at the same spot where Naidu is observing a hunger strike. According to reports, the man has been identified as Davala Arjun Rao and is a resident of Kinthali village in Srikakulam district in the southern state. Reports inform that the man was facing financial problems since a long time and ended his life outside the CM's protest spot at Andhra Bhawan in Delhi.
The differently-abled man had come to the national capital to participate in the day-long hunger strike by Naidu. The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister is on a strike to demand special status for his state and fulfilment of commitments made by the Centre under the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014. Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Madhur Verma was quoted saying that the man was found dead on a wheelchair and a suicide note written in Telugu was recovered from the spot. The two-page suicide note stated that Rao was facing a severe financial crisis and that was the reason why he took this extreme step. The Police has begun an investigation into the matter.
The body has been preserved in a mortuary and will be sent for post-mortem after the family reaches Delhi. According to a report by PTI, police informed that the incident took place on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday. Adding further, the police informed that around 7 am on Monday, they were informed by an Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) about an unidentified body lying near the footpath of Jaswant Singh Road. In 2018, the TDP had walked out the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) protesting the "injustice" done to Andhra Pradesh after its bifurcation.
