Diamond Fraud in Mumbai: Man Takes 6,630 Diamonds From Two Traders To Sell at Higher Rate, Fails To Return Precious Stones; Booked for Cheating

Mumbai, May 12: The Mumbai police recently booked a man for allegedly cheating two diamond traders from the city. The case was filed on Friday, May 10, after the two traders approached the police and informed them about the alleged fraud. In their complaint, the traders said that the accused took 6,630 cut diamonds worth Rs 1.12 crore from them to sell them at a higher rate.
However, the accused, a diamond trader, did not pay the two traders or return their diamonds, reports Hindustan Times. The incident came to light after the complainant, Pikanik Fofani (43), approached cops against the accused. Fofani runs a store near Ramleela Maidan in Malad East. He told cops that the accused, Ajesh Sendhawa, came to him and another trader named Shreelal in August. Fofani further said that Sendhawa took 6,630 diamonds worth Rs 1.12 crore from them. The trio decided Ajesh would sell the diamonds at a higher price and give them a part of the profit after the sale. However, the accused kept delaying.
Fofani told the cops that Sendhawa did not give them the money or return the diamonds. The complainant also shared receipts the accused signed while taking the diamonds from the two traders. Acting on Fofani's complaint, the police have registered a case against Sendhawa under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Meanwhile, the Dindoshi police station, where the case has been registered, has launched a manhunt to nab the accused.
