New Delhi, November 5: Life came to a standstill in Gurugram after commuters faced long traffic jam in the city on the occasion of Dhanteras. According to reports, the traffic jam stretched for over 6 kilometres, starting from Mahilpalpur in Delhi to Udyog Vihar. Traffic jams were also witnessed in the national capital near major intersections, especially near markets like Chandni Chowk, Karol Bagh, Lajpat Nagar and South Extension. Around 4,000 police were deployed by Delhi Traffic Police to regulate the traffic in the national capital. Delhi markets were today overcrowded as people stepped out in large numbers on Dhanteras. People consider it good luck to purchase gold, home appliances, utensils and vehicles on Dhanteras.
