Kolkata, October 7: A man from Khurtuba village in Mongalkote, West Bengal’s Purba Bardhaman district, arrived at a local hospital carrying a bag filled with around 25 to 30 mosquitoes in a polythene bag. He was concerned about the potential dengue outbreak in the area and wanted the hospital to examine the mosquitoes.

As per the India Today, the man was identified as Mansoor Ali Sheikh. Dr Julfikar Ali, who was on duty at the time, initially thought that the man had come with a medical emergency. However, upon seeing the mosquitoes, he was stunned. Mansoor explained that there is stagnant water around his shop where mosquitoes are breeding, leading to a severe mosquito and insect problem at the shop. The incident has raised concerns about the mosquito problem in the region and the need for immediate action to control it.  Dengue Outbreak in Bihar: 6,146 Cases Reported in September 2023, Highest in Last Five Years.

According to a statement made by the Fisheries Officer of the Mongalkote Panchayat Samiti, Sayed Basir, he will bring the matter of mosquito problem in the region to the attention of the Block Medical Officer of Health (BMOH) and the Block Development Officer (BDO). He further emphasized the need for immediate action to control the mosquito problem in the region, including the distribution of mosquito repellents and bleaching powder to tackle stagnant water.
