Dengue in Bihar: 144 Patients Test Positive in Muzaffarpur, Fogging Done Across 52 Locations in City

According to official records, Dr Shailesh Prasad Singh, Civil Surgeon, Muzaffarpur said a total of 144 people have tested positive for Dengue in the city. Singh added saying that fogging for dengue prevention has been done at 52 locations across the city to prevent the spread of the vector-borne disease.

Patna, November 16: Several districts in Bihar have been witnessing a rise in the number of dengue cases this season. According to official records, Dr Shailesh Prasad Singh, Civil Surgeon, Muzaffarpur on Saturday informed that a total of 144 people have tested positive for dengue in the city. Singh added saying that fogging for dengue prevention has been done at 52 locations across the city to prevent the spread of the vector-borne disease.

In the wake of the rising cases, all possible steps to check dengue and possible arrangements have been made at all government hospitals for treatment of dengue patients.  In October, nearly 1,400 people were tested positive for dengue in Bihar including 1,135 cases in Patna due to waterlogged streets and the continues rain in the region. Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad had also visited the the patients at Patna Medical College last month.

Apart from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh has also witnessed a rise in dengue cases this year. According to official records, 7,598 people have been afflicted with dengue while 13 deaths have been reported in this season. Fogging has, so far proved to be ineffective in checking dengue rise.

Meanwhile in West Bengal, as many as 44,852 dengue cases were reported from various southern districts, a report of the state health department has revealed. The affected districts include North and South 24 Parganas, Howrah and Hooghly. According to a report by ANI, 25 people have been killed in the state since January this year.
