Delhi's Patiala House Court Rejects Bail Plea of Ashish Pandey, Held For Brandishing Gun Outside Hyatt Hotel
In a video statement released by Ashish after his arrest, the ex-BSP lawmaker's son said he is a victim of 'media trial'.
New Delhi, October 23: Delhi's Patiala House Court on Wednesday rejected the bail plea of Ashish Pandey, son of former BSP MP Rakesh Pandey, held for brandishing a gun outside the Hyatt Regency hotel in the national capital.
Ashish, 43, was arrested last Thursday -- two days after a non-bailable warrant was issued against him. The police had taken suo moto action against him after a video surfaced of him threatening a couple with his gun outside the Hyatt hotel on October 14.
Union MoS, Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju took cognizance of the matter and directed the Delhi Police to take stringent action against the accused. Subsequently, a case was registered with Ashish being booked under the provisions of Arms Act and the IPC.
In a video statement released by Ashish after his arrest, the ex-BSP lawmaker's son said he is a victim of "media trial". The accused levelled counter-allegations against the couple with whom he was involved in an altercation outside the five-star hotel.
"I'm being projected like I'm a wanted terrorist... If you check CCTV footage, you'll find who went to ladies toilet that night and who threatened whom," Ashish said, further claiming that he had removed his revolver from the gun as was concerned for his wife and son.
