New Delhi, October 19: The Patiala House Court in Delhi has dismissed the bail plea of former Bahujan Samaj Party lawmaker's son Ashish Pandey, held for brandishing a gun outside a 5-star hotel in the national capital.

The single-judge bench which heard his petition, dismissed the appeal to grant him bail. The court, however, decided not to extend his police remand and instead, sent him to judicial custody till Monday. Watch Video of Ashish Pandey Brandishing Gun Outside the Hyatt Regency Hotel.

Pandey, son of ex-BSP MP Rakesh Pandey, surrendered on Thursday -- a day after the police issued a non-bailable warrant against him. In a video statement issued to the press, the accused said he is being subjected to "media trail".

"Everyone is saying I threatened a woman with a gun but I did not even address the woman, who was with him. She pushed me and even made obscene gestures at me using her hands. Her male friend said things to me," he said, adding that the interrogation of hotel staff would prove he is innocent.

The incident which landed Pandey in soup happened on Sunday, when a quarrel broke out between him, his wife and a couple outside the Hyatt Regency Hotel. After exchanging heated words, Pandey was seen getting into his vehicle and removing a revolver to threaten the duo.

The 43-year-old had subsequently escaped to Uttar Pradesh's Basti, where he was hiding till Thursday. "I was afraid after the video went viral. I admit I made a mistake, but the media has portrayed me as a terrorist," he said.
