New Delhi, March 3: In a tragic incident, a woman was shot dead in the national capital while she tried to save her husband from an argument during a marriage ceremony on Saturday. According to reports, the horrific incident took place in Delhi’s Mangolpuri area, when her husband got into an argument with few men over the music being played during the marriage celebration. A report by Hindustan Times informs that the deceased, 36-year-old Sunita Devi, was the aunt of the groom, Sumit. The report further informs that the accused and his accomplice fled after committing the crime but were arrested from Chandigarh. Delhi: Woman Shot Dead in Bawana, Attacker on the Run. 

According to reports, Deputy commissioner of police (outer) Seju P Kuruvilla was quoted in the report saying that preliminary enquiry revealed that Sunita and her 39-year-old husband Sajjan Kumar, were at Sumit’s wedding when Kumar had a tiff with two brothers Akash (24) and Sandeep (25), who were invited by the bride’s family. Delhi Police Head Constable Shot Dead in Meerut by Unknown Assailants, Case Registered. 

Police informed that one of the two men opened fire at Kumar but Sunita came in between and the bullet hit her in the head. Seeing the woman collapse, both the men fled the wedding procession,” the DCP said. The woman was then rushed to a hospital where the authorities declared her brought dead. Police said Sunita is survived by, apart from her husband Sajjan, her three children.
