New Delhi, September 22: In a shocking incident, a widow tenant in Delhi was allegedly beaten to death by a landlord and his son over suspicion of theft in Mehrauli area. According to a tweet by ANI, the incident took place on Saturday. Giving details of the tragic incident, the brother of the deceased said that the landlord had informed the family members that she had done robbery in the house. "Landlord informed that she had done robbery in the house and so they have beaten up her. I went there&found her in serious condition. She later died", he said.  

According to reports, a landlord and his son were arrested on Saturday for allegedly thrashing and killing the woman. Delhi Police confirmed the incident and said the victim, identified as 44-year-old widow named Manju Goel, was beaten to death over the suspicion of robbery in Mehrauli. As soon as the incident was reported, Police began an investigation into the matter. The family members said that Manju's landlord Satish Pahwa accused her of stealing huge cash from the house, following which, the landlord thrashed her mercilessly. Manju's brother accused Satish Pahwa, his son and other members including maid of murdering his sister.

"Pahwa family accused my sister of stealing Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 3 lakh in cash. Even they took Rs 60,000 of her savings claiming that they have recovered their money," the victim's brother said. They called a doctor for treatment at home, however, Manju succumbed to her injuries on the same day.
