Delhi: Transgender Shot at for Refusing to Have Sex With Two Men Who Offered Her Lift, One Arrested

New Delhi, January 23: In a shocking incident, a transgender was allegedly shot at for refusing to have sex to two men, who offered her a lift in their car in Delhi. Reports inform that the 21-year-old transgender took the lift from Trilokpuri to the Barapullah road on Sunday morning. After the men realised that she was a transgender, they allegedly shot her when she resisted the sexual assault and then threw her from the moving car. The victim has undergone surgery and is out of danger. According to a report by Hindustan Times, one of the two accused has been arrested and a case of attempt to murder has been registered into the matter. According to a report by Hindustan Times, the incident took place around 12.38 am on Sunday. The report states that the incident came to light after the Police received a distress call at Hazrat Nizamuddin police station reporting that a woman has been shot on the Barapullah flyover in south Delhi. As soon as the incident was reported, a team that rushed to the spot found that the injured person was taken to AIIMS by locals. Deputy commissioner of police (southeast) Chinmoy Biswal was quoted in the report saying that when the Police reached the hospital, they were told that the transgender had sustained a gunshot wound in her abdomen. On Monday, the Police team spotted the car around 9.30 pm at night. When the driver was asked to stop, he accelerated and hit a barricade and was later arrested. The man was identified as 24-year-old Sagar Kumar alias Lampak, a resident of Trilokpuri. The Police also found another countrymade pistol in the car. During interrogation, Lampak confessed that he had offered a lift to the transgender. He said while he drove with Kant and the victim to Barapullah flyover, hey attempted to have sex with the transgender but she refused. On this, Lampak said he took out a pistol and shot her. While the Police managed to nab Lampak, the search is on for the other accused.
