Delhi Traffic Advisory Issued by Police For Kisan Mukti March Day 2: Check Diversions And Road Closures as Farmers March to Parliament
With thousands of protesting farmers marching towards Parliament, Delhi police issued traffic advisories for commuters.
New Delhi, November 30: Citing the mega protest rally by the farmers in the national capital on Friday, the Delhi Police issued traffic advisories for the commuters travelling towards the Parliament Street. Along with this, the traffic police department is continuously updating the Delhiites about the traffic jams, caused due to the farmers march.
Briefing more about the traffic diversions and cautioning the commuters to avoid major roads, Joint Commissioner of Police Alok Kumar said, “The farmers rally is likely to be followed by a march to Jantar Mantar from 9 am. The route of the march will be via Guru Nanal Chowk-Ranjit Singh Flyover-Tolstoy Marg.” Kisan Mukti March Day-2: Farmers Begin March to Gherao Parliament; Chant ‘Ayodhya Nahi, Karz Maafi Chahiye’
Adding more, the statement said, “Therefore, traffic is likely to be affected on roads surrounding Ramlila Ground, Jawaharlal Nehru Marg, Deshbandhu Gupta Road, Rani Jhansi Marg, Mandir Marg, Panchkurian Road, Barakhanba Road, Kasturba Gandhi Marg, Janpath, Ashoka Road, Ferozshah Road, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, Jai Singh Road and inner circle of Connaught Place.”
The Police Commissioner advised the commuters to check Delhi Police Twitter and Facebook pages and plan their journey accordingly. As per to the current status, traffic movement is closed on Sansad marg due to demonstration and stated to avoid the stretch.
Also, All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC) procession is proceeding through Guru Nanak Eye hospital, Ranjeet Singh Flyover and Ajmeri Gate. Due to this, the roads have been closed for commuters.
Farmers from the states of east to west and north to south gathered in the Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi on Thursday and started their march towards Sansad Marg (Parliament Street) on Friday morning. The two-day protest by the farmers is to make the Union government aware the plight of ailing farmers in the nations.
The two-day protest march is organised by All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC), All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS), Swaraj Abhiyan and various other organisations. The farmers are demanding a special 21-day session of the Parliament on the agrarian crisis.
Among other issues, the farmers are demanding the implementation of M S Swaminathan Committee report, loan waiver, increased MSP for their farm products and discussion on two Bills in the Parliament - Farmers’ Freedom from Indebtedness Bill, 2018 and Farmers’ Right to Guaranteed Remunerative Minimum Support Prices for Agricultural Commodities Bill, 2018.
