New Delhi, October 29: In a shocking incident, three people were killed after they were knocked down by a speeding train in Delhi on Monday. According to a report by ANI, the incident took place near Nangloi railway station at around 7:30 am on Monday. Reports inform that the three were consuming alcohol on the railway tracks when the tragic incident happened. As of now, the deceased have not been identified. However, the Police has begun an investigation into the matter.
Soon after, CPRO, Northern railways issued a statement saying at about 7:15 hrs today, three persons trespassing the tracks were run over by train no 12446 Bikaner-Delhi exp near Nangloi Railway station. 'RPF along with staff, GRP and Civil Police are present at the spot and further legal action is under process", the CPRO informed.
Earlier this month, at least 61 people were killed in Punjab's Amritsar after a crowd of Dussehra revellers gathered on the railway tracks while watching the burning of a Ravana effigy. According to a report by PTI, when the incident occurred, the train was coming from Jalandhar. The train mishap took place at Joda Phatak near Amritsar, where at least 300 people were watching ‘Ravan Dahan’ at a ground adjacent to the tracks.
Reports inform that Delhi's air quality continued to remain 'very poor', prompting the Central Pollution Control Board and the Centre-run System of Air Quality Forecasting and Research to issue separate advisories for people. Meanwhile, in the NCR region, Ghaziabad recorded severe pollution level, while Gurgaon, Faridabad, Noida and Greater Noida all recorded 'very poor' air quality.
