Delhi, July 8: In a tragic turn of events in northwest Delhi's Maurya Enclave, a 27-year-old man, Anatab, fatally stabbed his wife Seema after she reportedly refused to accompany him to his village. The couple, who had recently relocated and were grappling with domestic issues, became embroiled in a heated argument over the village visit. Enraged by Seema's refusal, Anatab resorted to violence, attacking her with a knife in their rented accommodation. Subsequently, Anatab slit his own throat with the same knife. The local police have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
As per a report by the Times of India, the incident unfolded in Maurya Enclave, northwest Delhi, on Sunday, July 7, after a heated argument between the couple. The couple, who had recently moved into a rented apartment and were possibly under stress due to Anatab quitting his job as a security guard, were known to have ongoing domestic issues, including alcohol-related disputes. The dispute escalated when Anatab insisted on Seema accompanying him to his village, which she refused. This refusal sparked a heated argument, culminating in Anatab attacking Seema with a knife in a fit of rage. During the altercation, a neighbour named Rajan attempted to intervene to stop the violence but was injured in the process. Subsequently, Anatab turned the knife on himself and silted his own throat. The neighbours promptly called emergency services, and both Anatab and Rajan were rushed to a nearby hospital. Tragically, Anatab was pronounced dead on arrival, while Rajan received treatment for his injuries. The incident was captured on CCTV, showing the violent altercation and the tragic aftermath. The local police arrived promptly and, along with the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team, collected evidence from the scene. Authorities have registered a case under Section 109 (attempted murder) of the IPC. Initial investigations suggest additional stressors in the couple's relationship.
