Delhi Shocker: Man Masturbates In Front Of Woman at Huda City Centre Metro Station, Commuters Turn Mute Spectators

New Delhi, June 18: In a shocking incident, a man allegedly masturbated in front of a woman at a metro station in Delhi. According to the woman, the incident took place at the Huda City Centre metro station complex on June 14. In a series of tweets, the woman narrated her ordeal and alleged that the Gurugram police didn't take her complaint seriously. She also said she had slapped the man while other commuters looked on.
"I was visiting a friend in Gurugram and after deboarding the Metro at the station went to a clothing store to purchase a top. After exiting the store, I was climbing down the escalator when I felt something was wrong on my back. I turned and realised that a man masturbated on me. I was shocked, scared and traumatised. I confronted him. He flashed me and said indecent words; I slapped him," she was quoted as saying. The woman said nobody came forward to help when the man masturbated on her. “I shouted and called for help, but no one came forward. There were no policemen around. He flashed me again before running away. I ran outside towards a police chowki, but found it closed," she said. Referring to the Delhi government's plan of providing free travel to women, the woman said they need security rather than free rides.
"I slapped him, which means something happened. Wasn’t that enough to ring an alarm? We don’t want free rides. We want safety which every government promises but none has been able to provide us. We fear walking out. Was 9.25 really that late? (sic)" she wrote. After the incident, the woman had approached the Gurugram police through Facebook Messenger. There was no response, she alleged.
She then approached the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) officials, who called her to look at the CCTV footages to identify the culprit on Sunday. "I identified the culprit in the CCTV footage. I am yet to decide whether to file an FIR as I fear for my safety and fear the consequences," she said. Gurugram police spokesperson Subhash Boken told Hindustan Times that they had asked the woman to file a written complaint.
