Delhi, October 1: The flight services from Delhi to Shirdi and back started today. The budget carrier SpiceJet SG946 departed Delhi airport at 12: 55 pm and is scheduled to arrive Shirdi at 2:35 pm. This will mark the first flight service from Delhi to Shirdi. On October 1, on the way back, the flight will leave Shirdi at 3.05 pm and land in Delhi by 4.55 pm. Besides this, it will also launch a new direct flight from Mumbai to Kanpur from October 8. SpiceJet to Start Shirdi-Delhi Flight from October 1.
It's an important day for Shirdi airport which has also completed its first anniversary of operation. Previously all the operational flights in Shirdi was run by Alliance Air, a subsidiary of Air India, but now Spicejet has also started its commercial flight services on the Delhi-Shirdi route. Every year around 60,000 pilgrims visit the town of Shirdi, which is famous for temples dedicated to Saibaba. The Spicejet is the first and only airline to provide air services to temple-town Shirdi.
"Our new flight will offer an immediate boost to religious tourism that the city is best known for," Shilpa Bhatia, Chief Sales and Revenue Officer, SpiceJet, was quoted in a statement.
