New Delhi, November 18: In another incident of sexual assault against minors, a two-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped and raped by a man on Friday night in Delhi. After committing the crime, the accused dumped her near the tracks of Old Delhi Railway Station. The police arrested the 24-year-old accused on Sunday. He has been identified as Anil. According to police, the 24-year-old man was a drug addict. Anil kidnapped the minor on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday while she was sleeping with her mother on a footpath in north Delhi’s Kotwali area. The girl’s mother around 2.30 am on Saturday found the minor missing and started looking for her. She then approached police around 10 am on Saturday. The police initially registered a kidnapping. As per the reports, in the afternoon, the police came to know that a baby girl had been admitted to a hospital in central Delhi after being rescued by a team of police personnel. Later, she was identified as the one who was kidnapped from Kotwali.
It was found out that she had been sexually assaulted and the accused dumped her near the railway tracks. The girl underwent surgery and is now better, a police official told PTI. The accused was identified after scanning CCTV footage. After which, the police launched manhunt operation to nab him. The accused used to collect garbage for a living and also worked as a waiter during the wedding season. As per the police official, Three months ago, he was arrested in connection with a theft case in Haridwar.
In a similar incident in September, an 11-year-old girl was allegedly raped in the national capital. The minor was reportedly raped in ESI Hospital in Rohini by a housekeeping staff of the hospital. A case was registered at KN Katju Marg Police Station, following which the accused was arrested.
