New Delhi, July 28: In a fierce road accident case reported from the national capital, two were killed and another two left injured as a speeding vehicle rammed into an electric pole. The accident occurred in east Delhi's Vivek Vihar locality, in the early hours of Sunday. The survivors are currently undergoing treatment at GTB Hospital.

A preliminary probe has revealed that four youths were moving in their Honda City car in the morning. Speed of the vehicle, at the time of accident, could be gauged by the fact that the iron bars installed on road's divider were also uprooted along with the electric pole. The front portion of the car was completely devastated and reduced to scrap.

The deceased have been identified as 18-year-old Prabhjot Singh, a resident of Malka Ganj and his friend Rubal, 20. The survivors are Keshav, 21, a resident of Kamla Nagar and Arshpreet, 19, from Haryana's Sirsa.

The Traffic Police in Delhi has warned motorists against driving at high-speed, especially during Monsoon, as the probability of accidents rise during heavy rainfall.

Notably, Delhi ranks among the 10 worst cities in India hit by road accidents. In the last 17 months, the city's traffic police has recorded 264 deaths on seven speedways in the region.
