New Delhi, August 6: Heavy rainfall lashed Delhi-NCR region on Tuesday, bringing relief from the humid weather. The incessant downpour caused water-logging at many places, triggering traffic congestion. Residents in the national capital woke up to a rainy morning with the minimum temperature settling at 26.7 degrees Celsius, a notch above the season’s average. According to private weather agency, Skymet Weather, the rainfall activity can be attributed to the northward movement of Monsoon Trough, which is coming closer to Delhi and NCR area. Reports inform that the Safdarjung Observatory reported that the city received 12.6 mm rainfall till 8.30 am. Meanwhile, the Palam Observatory received 38.5 mm rainfall. The humidity was recorded at 97 per cent.

According to IMD, the national capital will witness cloudy skies with the possibility of light to moderate rains and thundershowers. The maximum temperature is likely to settle at 33 degrees Celsius on Tuesday and 27 degrees Celsius on Wednesday. On Monday, the national capital recorded a low of 27.2 degrees Celsius and a high of 37.4 degrees Celsius.
