Delhi Rains: Heavy Rainfall Continues to Lash NCR For Second Day, Waterlogging Leads to Traffic Snarls at Several Places

New Delhi, July 27: Heavy rains continued to lash the national capital for the second day today, leading to waterlogging and traffic snarls at various places in the city today. Severe water-logging was reported in Faridabad Sector 8 while streets were water-logged in Delhi's Civic Centre area following heavy rainfall since Thursday morning. The city received intermittent rainfall throughout the day on Thursday and continued even on Friday.

According to the latest weather update, more rainfall is expected to hit Delhi -NCR. The Met office has forecast overcast skies, along with the possibility of few spells of light to moderate rains for Friday.

On Thursday, a road caved in Vasundhara area of Ghaziabad following heavy rains in the area. The incessant rainfall left during the morning rush hour caused huge traffic jams in the city. Traffic was severely affected due to heavy rains while waterlogging contributed to chaos at various intersections. Vehicular movement was affected at the Vivek Vihar underpass, the Seema Puri underpass and under the Ghazipur flyover.

The heavy downpour in Delhi and NCR brought respite to people from rising humidity. On Thursday, maximum temperature settled at 28.7 degrees Celsius, six notches below the season's average while the minimum was recorded at 26.0 degrees Celsius, a notch below the normal, said a Met department official. Meanwhile, the Safdarjung observatory, recording of which is considered the official figure for the city, recorded 4.6 mm rainfall till 8.30 am and 14.8 mm rainfall till 5.30 pm.
