Delhi Rains: Bus Stuck in Waterlogged Road Under Minto Bridge, Passengers Rescued Safely

New Delhi, July 16: The bus got stuck in a waterlogged road under the Minto Road Bridge on Monday following heavy rains across the national capital. All the passengers had been rescued safely, a tweet by ANI informed. Earlier this week, a DTC bus was submerged under the same bridge. A total of 78 persons were travelling in the bus, including the driver and the conductor.
According to a report by PTI, the firemen rescued the occupants of the bus safely, the officer said, adding that the operation lasted for around half an hour. Several areas in Delhi were submerged in at least ankle-deep water, including near Delhi Secretariat, Police Headquarters and the Civic Centre.
Private weather agency Skymet Weather reported that Delhi received similar heavy rainfall on July 13 in which, Safdarjung observatory had recorded a whopping 54 mm of rainfall during that time.
The heavy downpour continued to lash the national capital, paralysing normal life. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) also faced an issue after leakage inside tunnels of the Magenta Line metro flooded the tunnel and disrupted its services for a few hours. The worst affected line of the Magenta Line was the section between Munirka and Vasant Vihar.
