Delhi Police Issues Traffic Advisory For 72nd Independence Day Celebrations: Check List Of Roads Closed on August 15
Traffic restrictions have been put in place in Delhi from Monday till August 15, Independence Day. The Delhi Police has issued a traffic advisory asking people to avoid routes which will be part of Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort.
New Delhi, August 13: In the wake of 72nd Independence Day celebrations, three-day traffic restrictions have been imposed in Delhi till August 15. A traffic advisory has been issued by the Delhi Police asking people not to take routes which will be part of Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort. According to the police, almost six roads will be closed for traffic till Wednesday. Restrictions were put in place for the full dress rehearsal on Monday as well.
Six roads – Netaji Subhash Marg, Lothian Road, S P Mukherjee Marg, Chandni Chowk Road, Nishad Raj Marg and Esplanade Road – and its Link Road will be closed for general public from 5 am to 9 am on August 15.
North-South traffic will follow alternative routes from Aurobindo Marg, Connaught Place-Minto Road, Ring Road-ISBT and Nizamuddin bridge.
In the East-West corridor, the vehicular traffic will follow alternative routes of DND-NH24-Vikas Marg, Vikas Marg- DDU Marg, and Boulevard Road-Barfkhana.
Goods vehicles will not be allowed between Nizamuddin bridge and Wazirabad bridge from 12 midnight of August 14 to 11 am on August 15. Inter-state buses will not be allowed between Maharana Pratap ISBT and Sarai Kale Khan ISBT from 4 am to 11 am.
Local city buses, including of DTC, will not move on Ring Road from 4am to 11 am on August 15, between Hanuman Setu and Bhairon Road T-point and take alternative routes available. Buses that terminate at Red Fort, Jama Masjid and Delhi main railway station will be curtailed or diverted.
Vehicles without parking labels for the rehearsal parade have been asked to avoid Tilak Marg, Mathura Road, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Subhash Marg, Jawaharlal Nehru Marg and Ring Road between Nizamuddin Bridge and ISBT bridge and take alternative routes.
Alternative routes to railway stations, bus stations and hospitals near the venue of Independence Day function will also remain open.
Meanwhile, parking of vehicles will not be allowed at metro stations from 6 am on August 14 till 2 pm on August 15, said Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
To maintain vigil, the Delhi police has installed additional CCTV cameras, especially at major markets of the national capital. “To increase the security, we have put up extra 45 CCTV cameras. These cameras are being monitored live by the police through the control room to keep a check on any suspicious activity,” DCP Chinmoy Biswal (south-east) said as quoted by ANI.
