New Delhi, June 25: Contractual nursing staff of several Central Government hospitals in Delhi on Tuesday staged a protest outside Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan's residence in the national capital after being suddenly terminated from services. According to a tweet by ANI, the contractual nursing officers of the central government from Safdarjung hospital, RML hospital, Lady Hardinge hospital, Kalawati hospital and others sat in protest, saying that they will continue the protest at Safdarjung till they are given the joining letter.
The doctors allege that they've been suddenly terminated from services without any intimation or warning by the government. The protesters said that nearly 5000 staff are required to fill in vacancies at these hospitals but still they were terminated. They said, the reason for their termination is unknown. The staff told ANI that they were baffled by the hospitals' "use and throw" move.
Here's the tweet:
The protesters said that they had gathered outside the Health Minister's residence even on Monday, but they were told minister wasn't there. " Nearly 5000 staff are required. Why are we being terminated if staff is needed? They're using policy of use&throw. We had come here y'day too but we were told minister is not here. The same happened today. We'll protest at Safdarjung till we're given letter of joining", they said.
