New Delhi, December 20: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Friday shut down three metro stations as anti-CAA protests in the national capital continued to spread. According to a security update by DMRC, the entry & exit gates of Jamia Millia Islamia and Jasola Vihar Shaheen Bagh have been shut until further orders. This means, metro trains will not be halting at these stations. The DMRC added saying that all other metro stations in the national capital are open and services are normal.

On Thursday, a total of 19 metro stations including Rajiv Chowk, Janpat, Chandni Chowk, Pragati Maidan were shut as people continued to stage protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (2019) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC). Scores of people gathered at various venues despite massive police deployment in the national capital. Earlier in the day, 16 metro stations across Delhi had been closed as a precautionary measure to avoid any untoward incident. Delhi Airport Flight Operations Remain Affected Due to Dense Fog And Crew Operational Limitations.

In Delhi, metro services faced disruptions due to suspension of train services at different Metro stations in view of the protests that are increasingly turning violent. According to reports, commuters faced inconvenience due to a traffic chaos on the National Highway 8. Scores of commuters were stranded for many hours on the arterial road connecting Delhi and Gurugram.
