Delhi Metro to Run Independence Day Special Train With Photos of Freedom Fighters and National Icons For Next 2 Months

The train will have the photographs of freedom fighters and icons of India's struggle for freedom.

New Delhi, August 13: Independence Day is not just an occasion to show one's patriotism and love for nation, but also to unleash one's creativity. The Delhi Metro, on Monday, has introduced a six-coach special train, to celebrate the 72nd Independence Day.

According to news agency PTI, the train will be "fully wrapped" with the photographs of freedom fighters and icons of India's struggle for freedom. Delhi metro has said that it is being done to spread and promote the message of patriotism.

The train will reportedly run between Samaypur Badli and HUDA City Centre (Yellow Line) for the next two months carrying pictures of freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Subhash Chandra Bose, B R Ambedkar, former president APJ Abdul Kalam, and artists like Lata Mangeshkar and shahnai maestro Ustad Bismillah Khan, and also cricket icon Kapil Dev, an official was quoted by news agency PTI.

Union Minister of State for External Affairs, General V K Singh, paid tributes to the freedom fighters and martyrs by writing a message on the decorated train, informed an official.

The minister wrote – Happy Independence Day’ in Hindi on a panel on the train  at the Lok Kalyan Marg Metro Station. He also wished people ahead of Independence Day. The official said that the metro train is carrying a lot of inspiring messages to spread the idea of nationalism and unity among metro commuters.
