New Delhi, December 20: With co-ordinated protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act going on in the national capital, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation on Friday closed the entry and exit gates of almost 23 stations. Among the major Metro stations whose entry and exit gates have been closed include Rajiv Chowk, Central Secretariat, Mandi House and Kashmere Gate.
Announcing the decision, DMRC informed that the Metro trains will halt in all these stations, as advised by the Delhi Police. However, those commuting through the Delhi Metro, can change the trains at the interchanging stations in Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House, Kashmere Gate and Central Secretariat. As per the details, the Metro stations entry/exit gates were closed include -- Kashmere Gate, Central Secretariat, Mandi House, Janpath, Rajiv Chowk, Pragati Maidan, Khan Market, Johri Enclave, Shiv Vihar, Dilshad Garden, Chawri Bazar, Lal Quila, Jama Masjid, Delhi Gate on violet line, Jaffrabad, Maujpur-Babarpur, Jamia Millia Islamia, among others.

Earlier too from Monday onwards, DMRC had closed the gates of major Metro stations after Delhi Police issued a safety precautions. The issue of CAA protests were cited as reason for the closure of Metro gates. It is to be known that some people in the national capital turned violent during the protests in Jamia Millia Islamia. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have appealed protesters to help maintain law and order.
