New Delhi, July 27: A man climbed a tower near Metro Bhawan in the national capital demanding special status for Andhra Pradesh. According to a photo tweeted by ANI, the man was seen holding a banner that read, "AP need special status". However, the man came down after almost two hours. A fire tender was also rushed to the spot.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Madhur Verma was quoted by PTI saying that the man sat on top of the Matro Bhawan for one-and-a-half hours. He further added that efforts were being made to bring him down.

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) had walked out of the NDA after a political battle over the special category status to Andhra Pradesh. Last week, the TDP moved a no-confidence motion against the government in the Lok Sabha over the issue, although the move was defeated.
Earlier this week, Former prime minister Manmohan Singh said he had expected Prime Minister Narendra Modi to fulfil the UPA government's commitment on special category status to Andhra Pradesh as it was a promise made after consulting BJP leaders.
