Delhi: Maharashtra Farmer Dies After Falling From Ambedkar Bhawan in Paharganj
According to a tweet by ANI, the farmer, identified as Kiran Santapa (52) fell off the third floor of Ambedkar Bhawan in Paharganj area. The incident comes a day after around 35,000 farmers staged the largest agitation of crop growers in Delhi.
New Delhi, December 1: A Maharashtra farmer on Saturday lost his life after falling off from a building in the national capital. According to a tweet by ANI, the farmer, identified as Kiran Santapa (52) fell from the third floor of Ambedkar Bhawan in Paharganj area. The incident comes a day after around 35,000 farmers, from across India, staged the largest protest in Delhi. According to reports, over 3,500 police personnel were deployed on the route of the march to prevent any untoward incident. Amit Sharma, Additional Dy Commissioner of Police, Central Delhi confirmed that incident and said an investigation into the matter is currently underway. Farmers have been protesting against the ongoing agrarian crisis in the country and press for their demands, including debt relief and remunerative prices for their produce.
Reports inform that over 200 farmers' body and other organisations participated in the march under the banner of the All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC). The agitating farmers marched to Parliament Street on Friday to protest against the “anti-farmer policies” of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). About 35,000 farmers from different corners of the country, including Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal participated in the two-day Kisan March.
