New Delhi, January 17: The Lieutenant Governor of National Capital Territory of Delhi Anil Baijal on January 10 had directed hat during the period January 19, 2020 to April 18, 2020, Delhi Police Commissioner may also exercise the powers of detaining authority under the National Security Act (NSA), 1980.
According to notice by the home department of NCT Delhi had passed an order that during the period -- January 19, 2020 to April 18, 2020 -- the Delhi Police Commissioner will have the power to detain any authority under the NSA. It is to be known that the Home Department comes under the jurisdiction of Lieutenant Governor and not under the Arvind Kejriwal government. However, the AAP convenor had been demanding to shift the police department under its jurisdiction.
