Delhi Jal Board Opens Water Supply During Drainage Cleaning, One Labourer Dies

The occurrence took place on Friday when the labourers were cleaning a drain in Khyala area of West Delhi. Of three labourers, one has died while the other two are in the critical condition.

Delhi, June 28: In a shocking incident, three workers were washed away while cleaning the drainage after the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) started water supply. The occurrence took place on Friday when the labourers were cleaning a drain in Khyala area of West Delhi. Of three labourers, one has died while the other two are in the critical condition. Beware! According to news agency ANI reports, the labourers were 30 feet below the ground-level. When the DJB opened the water supply, all three of them washed out. Rescue operations were initiated to save the workers. Reports state that DJB had given the contract to clean drainage system to EIL.

The contractor has accused government officials of carelessness. Meanwhile, four workers of Delhi Jal Board were suspended after a video of them drinking liquor at the workplace went viral. In the clip, the DJB employees can be seen playing cards and drinking liquor.
