Delhi Fog: Several Flights Diverted From Delhi Airport As Captain Not Trained to Land in Low Visibility Conditions
According to a tweet by ANI, the think layer of fog has disrupted rail, flight operations and transportation due to poor visibility in the national capital. As many as five flights have been diverted from Delhi Airport due to bad weather. Reports inform that the captain was not trained to land under CAT III (low visibility) conditions.
New Delhi, January 22: Dense fog continued to envelop several states in North India with Delhi recording a minimum temperature of 7 degree Celsius on Wednesday morning. According to a tweet by ANI, as many a five flights were diverted from Delhi Airport due to bad weather. Reports inform that the captain was not trained to land under CAT III (low visibility) conditions. Of the five flights, three flights from Riyadh, Kuwait and Bangkok are delayed and 2 flights from Kabul and Bahrain flights diverted.

On Wednesday, the visibility in Delhi was reported to be 25-50 meter at 05:30 am. As per reports, dense to very dense fog is likely to continue till 10-11 am and improve thereafter. Moreover, as many as 22 trains were running late due to low visibility in the Northern Railway region. On Tuesday, as many as 25 Delhi-bound trains were delayed due to low visibility. According to Centre-run System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting (SAFAR), the air quality in Delhi is likely to stay in the higher end of the poor to lower end of very poor category for the next two days and the dense fog is likely to stay.
The IMD has said predicted that the Delhi-NCR region may not see relief from the winter chills anytime soon as another Western Disturbance is likely in the last week of the month that will further bring down the mercury. Meanwhile, temperatures across Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh rose on Tuesday, bringing some relief from the severe cold wave.
