New Delhi, July 29: The water level in Yamuna is slowly increasing in Delhi. The river is flowing above the danger mark at 205.50 metres. Authorities have started evacuating people from the riverside. Relief camps have also been set up with all the necessary facilities to accommodate people. According to reports, the water level is expected to rise further as water released from Haryana's Hathinikund added to the continued rains have led the Yamuna river to breach its danger-level mark.

On Saturday, the Delhi government also held an emergency meeting after Haryana released five lakh cusec of water from the HathiniKund Barrage. District Magistrate East (Delhi), K Mahesh said, "Till now, 1500 people have moved from low-lying areas. 550 tents pitched across 10 locations in East district. If more people need to be evacuated and accommodated, we have schools & night shelters."

Yamuna crosses danger mark in Delhi:

Ajay Kumar, ADM, East Delhi assured that currently, the situation is under control. The Central Water Commission Official Flood Forecast has even issued a warning. The commission today said the river is expected is expected to reach 205.65 metre. at 0400 to 0600 hours on July 30. The Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) has also been asked to activate and place their mobile toilet vans around the relief camps.

The government has also asked the Education department and municipal to be ready to provide the school space in these areas in case the need arises to evacuate people. According to reports, all power companies have been asked to arrange electricity supply in relief camps tents 24x7 once people are shifted into them. The Army was also requested to be on standby for any emergency.
