Delhi: Female Cricketer Reaches Out to Gautam Gambhir to File Molestation Complaint Against Coach, Says He is 'Trying to Rape Me'

New Delhi, January 2: An anonymous female cricketer based in the national capital region reached out to former Indian batsman-turned-parliamentarian Gautam Gambhir, seeking his help to file a molestation complaint. The girl, using pseudonym on Twitter to conceal her identity, narrated her plight in a post on the microblogging site. The girl, in her message addressed to Gambhir, claimed that her coach is "threatening to destroy her career. She further alleged that the accused is attempting to coerce her into silence, saying that he has "good relationship" with selectors who will not allow her career to move ahead.

"Hello sir @GautamGambhir(.) I am a female cricketer from delhi. My coach is molesting me and trying to rape and threating me that if i complained him he will destroy my carrer as he has good relationship with the selectors and i will never go ahead. Please help me sir. (sic)," the girl posted on Twitter, after using a handle with a pseudo name.

The #MeTooIndia, a handle which amplifies anonymous complaints of sexual harassment and molestation on social media, asked the girl to DM the specifics related to her case. Gambhir, who represents the East Delhi constituency in the Lok Sabha, did not respond to the Twitter post by the time this report was filed. The Delhi Police also did not intervene in the matter so far.
