New Delhi, January 7: A thick blanket of fog enveloped Delhi on Monday which partially stalled train services and flight operations in the national capital. On Sunday, Delhi witnessed light showers with minimum temperature touching 8.6 degrees Celsius, a notch above the season’s average. The MeT department informed that the mercury may drop on Monday with minimum temperature going down to 7 degrees Celsius. Cold wave conditions continued to persist across northern states including Punjab, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Haryana. Several areas in Himachal Pradesh including Shimla, Manali, Narkanda, Dharamshala, Mcleodganj and Kalpa received heavy rain and snowfall over the weekend. On Sunday, Shimla received 5 cm snow between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm and recorded a maximum temperature of 3.7 degrees Celsius. According to a report by PTI, Keylong was the coldest place in the state with a minimum temperature of minus 8.7 degrees Celsius while in Kalpa the mercury settled at a low of minus 3.7 degrees Celsius.
