Delhi Eateries Report 10% Drop in Revenue in First 15 Days of November Due to Rise in Pollution Levels

New Delhi, November 18: Due to the rising pollution in the city, the eating out and the entertainment industry saw a drop in the revenue in the first fifteen days of November as people preferred to stay indoors and went out of the town to get some relief from the choking air.

According to an Economic Times report, the impact of the pollution of dining out has been intense and there has been an almost 8-10 percent drop in the revenue. Speciality Restaurants managing director Anjan Chatterjee the chain that operates Mainland China and Oh! Calcutta, quoted in the report mentioned that the downward trend in dining-in was distinct, but the delivery orders went up. The city took a deserted look as more people refrained from coming out of their houses. Schools were declared holiday and offices too allowed work from home options. Kejriwal government had implemented the odd-even car rule, but it hardly saw any improvement in the air quality. Supreme Court rebuked the Centre as well as the state government regarding its inability to control the pollution on Friday.

From Sunday however, the air quality has improved and was in the 'poor' category due to the wind speed and a dip in the temperature. The AQI today in the national capital has significantly improved and is in the 'moderate' zone. Schools have reopened on Monday after it was closed for two days.
