Delhi Communal Clashes: 9 Arrested, Normalcy Returns to Hauz Qazi Area

So far, nine people, including 4 juveniles, have been arrested in connection with the Hauz Qazi incident, where clashes broke out between two groups over the parking issue. The matter took a communal turn after a temple was vandalised on Sunday night.

Delhi, July 3: So far, nine people, including 4 juveniles, have been arrested in connection with the Hauz Qazi incident, where clashes broke out between two groups over the parking issue. The matter took a communal turn after a temple was vandalised on Sunday night. The incident took place in Lal Kuan area under Hauz Qazi police station in Delhi. Meanwhile, people offered peace prayers today.

Following the incident, security was beefed up in the area. Union Minister and Chandni Chowk MP Dr Harsh Vardhan visited the affected area and described the incident as "unfortunate". “It is very unfortunate and painful. The kind of thing done to the temple is unforgivable. I have been told that the police is already in action. Culprits will be arrested soon and punished. Earlier in the day, Amulya Patnaik, Delhi Police Commissioner, met Union Home Minister Amit Shah over the incident. Patnaik said that the CCTV footage is being analysed and an investigation into the matter is underway.

Clashes broke in Hauz Qazi area after a fight over parking two-wheeler took an ugly turn. Following the argument between two communities, a temple in the area was vandalised.
