Delhi: 'Chowkidar Recruitment Scam' in Food Corporation of India; CBI Unearths Case Involving Watchmen

New Delhi, March 24: The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a case of alleged irregularities in the recruitments of watchmen for the Food Corporation of India (FCI) in New Delhi. The complaint was filed by the FCI after differences in the documents of the selected candidates.

According to a report by NDTV, the FCI had contracted a private company, Ace Integrated Solutions Limited, for the recruitment of the watchmen on April 10, 2017. Around 1.08 lakh people, including several post-graduates, applied for 53 posts vacant post. After this, on February 18 last year, 98,771 applicants appeared for the written test. Of these, 171 were chosen. After this, the applicants were shortlisted after verifying the document and physical examination. When the public sector company was performing the background check it found several irregularities in the documents of selected candidates and forwarded the case to CBI, reported NDTV. In the initial investigation, it has been found that at least 14 out of 96 candidates have been recruited incorrectly by cheating exams through impersonation. In the report, the sources said that such incidents have also happened in FCI in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.

"We are also in the process of collecting information regarding other recruitment projects carried out by the company. Necessary action may then be taken as per the law," one officer claimed, reported NDTV.

At the same time, the concerned private firm said that for the past 20 years and carried out more than 500 successful recruitment drives for different public sector institutions. In these years, there have been no cases of malpractice and criminal conspiracy during recruitment, the private agency said.
