New Delhi, February 26: The Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government on Tuesday allocated Rs 15,600 crore, 26 per cent of the total state budget to the education sector. Notably, this is the highest among all sectors budget for 2019-20 fiscal presented in the assembly Today. "Education was, is and all will be our top priority. Students scoring above 80 per cent in class 10 in government schools will get computer tablets from the government under a 'Pratibha fellowship'. Those in class 11 and 12 in RPVVs and schools of excellence will also get tabs,” Deputy CM Manish Sisodia said. Delhi: National Capital to Get 2 New Universities.

The AAP government will also introduce a Master of Business Administration (MBA) program for those who want to pursue an "MBA in Family Business" at the Delhi Technical University. The state government also announced to start a new "applied Sciences university" which will offer courses at different levels with certificate, diploma, degree upto PhD. Delhi would also be getting a teacher's training university on which the AAP government is working since 2015.

The government has also announced an annual scholarship of Rs 2,500 to government school students under the chief minister scholarship scheme. The students of classes 7 to 12 who score 80 per cent and above will be eligible for the scholarship. “We want to encourage talented students studying in government schools. We are not going to set any minimum limit for income of parents required to avail this scheme,” Sisodia said.

The Delhi government presented a Rs 60,000 crore budget for 2019-20 mainly focusing on the education, healthcare and transport sector. Manish Sisodia dedicated this budget to soldiers martyred in the recent Pulwama terror attack.
